Delta Sigma Theta, Waco Alumnae Chapter

About

The Waco Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated was charted as the Beta Rho Sigma Chapter on December 23, 1943 by fifteen college educated African American women in the Central Texas area who wanted an opportunity to continue their sisterhood beyond their college experience. With no chapter located in the Heart of Texas, these community servants consisting of professional women committed to the common good established our chapter. They desired to provide a place where Deltas could continue to inspire young women, sustain their culture and continue their tradition of sisterhood. Today, the Waco Alumnae Chapter is enjoying one of its most active periods in the spirit of our charter members by serving the civic, educational, social, and political needs of the Greater Waco community. Past activities: Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Ebony Fashion Fair, Community Wide Feast of Sharing, Health Fairs including a Healthy Soul Food Cooking Demonstration, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Voter Sunday (Get out the Vote), Operation Overwhelm. Current activities: Jabberwock Scholarship, MHMR-Waco Center for Youth Christmas Party for young women in the facility, MLK Community March, Partners in Education, Red Goes Pink, Habitat for Humanity, Healthy Soul Food Cooking Demonstration and Arts and Letter events, Eye Glasses for Ghana.
